Sky Striker, a giant pendulum ride, will open in 2024 at Great America

Some amusement park aficionados are roller-coaster lovers. Others are more into the "intense feeling of weightlessness at an astounding 172 feet in the air."

If you're in the second category, you're in luck. Six Flags Great America, in Gurnee, Illinois, just south of the Wisconsin state line, announced that Sky Striker, the tallest pendulum thrill ride in the Midwest, will open in the spring of 2024. Flying Tower Rides

The ride will be 17 stories tall, and riders will sit in a swinging disk that will glide back and forth at up to 75 mph.

In addition to the feeling of weightlessness, Six Flags noted in a statement that Sky Striker will "give riders a breathtaking view of the park's skyline."

Sky Striker will be in the County Fair section of the park.
